Not sure what to make of this article. Parts are standard leftist “Jones is insane” material while other parts seem jealous. I thought Alex Jones’ wife was Jewish by birth and this was why he steers clear of Israel, but of course that doesn’t square with Christian fundamentalism either; no doubt that Jones is Christian, but would he throw out his own wife and her family? And I think he’s all over Google while Uruknet (for example) is not because Jones deliberately manipulates Google statistics. And I think that Fox News covers him because they are attempting to co-opt him and derail him in the same way the Ron Paul supporters of 2007/2008 were completely thrown out of their own Tea Party, which was replaced by astroturf, eventually made up of ignorant people who were completely unaware of how it all started. And as for the Ponerology stuff (we own that book, though I haven’t read it): aren’t many political leaders abnormal? I mean are we going to use a Soviet meaning of the word “pathological” — threatening to the State? Jones couldn’t do what he does if he didn’t have delusions of grandeur, but neither could the people in Congress. A great many of us who visit his site and listen to him (and some, like Max Keiser, who appear on his show), spend most of our time rolling our eyes, yet we still value parts of what Jones has to offer.

I think an extremely effective way for the establishment to destroy resistance is to make us all constantly wonder who’s cointelpro and who’s real. There are undoubtedly cointelpro efforts, but I find many of them (e.g. the no planes theory) to be pretty sorry attempts, and immediately identifiable. Alex Jones has brought far too many people over to a non-partisan, questioning, anti-war stance for him to be cointelpro in my book, in spite of all his flaws. And many of the people he has on his show, like Keiser and Paul Craig Roberts and Catherine Austin Fitts, are most definitely not cointelpro.

I’ve done this whole thing myself: e.g. suddenly questioning Webster Tarpley because he’s friends with Thierry Meyssan and certain 9/11 folks (Jim Hoffman and Michael Wolsey) think Meyssan is cointelpro… and gee, Meyssan *did* get his book published *awfully* quickly after 9/11… etc. It’s exhausting. You start to think “Screw it, I don’t believe any of these people anymore.” Which is exactly what’s helpful to the State.

Everybody screws up sometimes, but to me, the rule is that you accept people in the resistance unless they begin to suggest violent action. I don’t think it’s fair to use “The answer to 1984 is 1776″ as an example since we do not live in 1984; it’s just a great sound bite. And yes, he has had the Appleseed guys on; it was more about fostering knowledge of American history than advocating violence. Real provocateurs talk specific action.

Not meaning to seem argumentative here, there’s just a lot to think about! Glad you’re blogging again!
