Because You’ll Believe Anything: Unknown Terrorist Group Claims Responsibility For Marriot Bombing

In a phone call to an Islamabad TV station, “a group calling itself Fedayeen-i-Islam” has claimed responsibility for the bombing of the Marriot Hotel in Islamabad, according to the Pakistani newspaper Dawn.

Fedayeen-i-Islam is “a little-known group” according to Bloomberg. But just how little-known?

Dawn’s report quotes “a senior [Pakistani] government official” as saying:

“We have not heard the name of the organisation but we are trying to locate its network.”

Amazing.

Ever since Saturday night’s bombing the media have been wrestling with the big question: “Why did al Qaeda do this?“

But now they have to deal with a different question: “How is Fedayeen-i-Islam related to al Qaeda?“

It goes without saying that Fedayeen-i-Islam must be a violent radical Islamofascist group and that they must have bombed the hotel. And they must have been assisted, if not directed, by al Qaeda, and probably the Taliban as well. After all, who else but the world’s most violent Islamic terrorists could make an anonymous phone call to a TV station?

It’s nice to know the big questions are looked after. That gives us leeway — here in the frozen corners of the blogosphere — to ask meaningless little insignificant questions, like:

What were US Marines doing in the Marriot Hotel just before the attack?

According to Pakistan Daily, after the blast, a fire broke out on the fourth and fifth floors of the hotel.

Why these floors and not the others? The official explanation didn’t make much sense. On the other hand, according to an eyewitness report from a member of Pakistan’s Parliament, a group of US Marines had recently visited the hotel, while Admiral Mike Mullen was there.

According to the eyewitness, all access to the hotel was closed off while the Marines unloaded steel boxes from a white US Embassy truck, bypassed both Pakistani and hotel security, and took these boxes directly to the fourth and fifth floors of the hotel — just where the fires mysteriously broke out.

Were the Marines loading the building with incendiaries? It certainly wouldn’t be the first time a building was primed by insiders for a subsequent “terrorist attack”.

I wasn’t kidding in my prior post when I called the Marriot bombing “Pakistan’s 9/11″. But I didn’t explain myself particularly well, either.

There’s a long list of similarities between the two attacks, including the rush by both politicians and the media to cast the event as “an attack on democracy”, when in both cases the attacks came at critical times for governments which falsely claimed to have been legitimately elected.

Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari can now claim to be in an all-out war against radical Islamic terrorists, and he may even be able to build up enough “political capital” to drag his nation in a direction in which it doesn’t wish to go.

As usual, the attack has been followed by a barrage of media nonsense, such as a report from the Financial Times which says men with ties to al Qaeda have been arrested in Pakistan in connection with the Marriot bombing.

Pakistani investigators yesterday said they had found new evidence of al-Qaeda’s involvement in the suicide truck bombing of Islamabad’s Marriott hotel. Intelligence officials also reported the arrest of up to five militants in connection with planning attacks [...]

According to an intelligence official, two of the five arrested men “came with conclusive evidence of close links to al-Qaeda. Their connection to the militant group is beyond any doubt.”

Let’s see now: The police are arresting members of one group while another group claims responsibility. Does this not undermine the claims of the police?

If you were tripped up by this little bit of logic, you must be a Democrat, since according to the Republicans, the Democrats have failed to learn the lessons of September 11th, 2001.

And the primary lesson from September 11th, of course, is that logic, evidence, and science are all past their prime.

Therefore, we don’t use forensic evidence to solve crimes anymore; we label the crimes acts of war, destroy the forensic evidence, and attack defenseless countries instead. For revenge. Or something.

If you believe that this massive bombing attack was perpetrated by a Pakistani terrorist group that the Pakistani government has never even heard of, then it’s not much of a stretch to believe that this hitherto-unknown group must have hitherto-unknown ties to al Qaeda, as well.

As the AP reported (via the Toronto Star):

Interior Ministry chief Rehman Malik said “all roads lead to FATA” in major Pakistani suicide attacks – referring to Federally Administered Tribal Areas, where U.S. officials fear Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda No.2 Ayman al-Zawahri are hiding.

And there you have it; it doesn’t matter who did it; it doesn’t matter who claimed responsibility; it doesn’t matter why Marines were acting mysteriously (and evading security) in the building shortly before it was attacked; it doesn’t matter what evidence is collected during the investigation; it doesn’t even matter whether there is an investigation.

What matters is that the media and the politicians have already decided who’s going to be blamed, and who’s going to pay the price. And once again — just like 9/11 — it won’t be the perpetrators.

Another Al-Qaeda Operative Reported Dead Twice

As originally revealed by the Citizens for Legitimate Government, the corporate controlled media has now reported yet again that the U.S. government has killed the same Al-Qaeda operative twice. In 2006 it was reported by ABC News and other media outlets that Abu Khabab al-Masri a so-called Al-Qaeda operative was killed by a U.S. missile strike. The news reports cited officials within the Pakistani government as the source of information for his death. Strangely enough, there are now reports of the U.S. government killing the same Al-Qaeda operative again. The explanation given is that the original information of al-Masri’s death was unfounded. No specific details were given as to why that was the case. This is not the first time that the corporate controlled press has put out information saying that a particular Al-Qaeda operative was killed for a second time. Regardless of what you believe about al-Masri’s death, the one thing that is clear is that the media uses the announcement of so-called dead Al-Qaeda operatives for propaganda purposes. When al-Masri was first reported dead back in 2006, the media gave his death a great deal of attention. Now, they calmly report that the previous information was unfounded with no explanation as to why the original report of al-Masri’s death was wrong and on top of that they use his death a second time for additional propaganda purposes. It is impossible to know what the real truth is behind al-Masri’s death or even if the man exists at all, but clearly information on the U.S. killing Al-Qaeda operatives twice is being used to see if people are actually analyzing and paying attention to what they put out. It is also interesting to note that reports of al-Masri’s death came just in time for George W. Bush’s meeting with the Pakistan Prime Minister. Coincidence right?

Regardless of these new reports, there is little doubt that the terror war is a fraud. Al-Qaeda was created in the late 1970s by the U.S. government to fight the Soviet Union in Afghanistan. It was nothing more than a list of names. In reality, Al-Qaeda as an organization doesn’t even exist. Instead, it is just a label the establishment makes use of to convince people believe that we are fighting a real organization of terrorists. Osama Bin Laden himself never even referred to his network as Al-Qaeda. Of course, Bin Laden is likely dead considering he was suffering from kidney dialysis around the time of the 9/11 attacks but that hasn’t stopped the establishment media from continuing to use him for the purposes of spreading fear. Bin Laden like all these other Al-Qaeda operatives that the media hypes are just characters the establishment uses in order to further propagandize this ridiculous war on terror hoax.

With that said, let’s look at these reports talking about al-Masri’s first death and his second death. It is evidence that these reported deaths of Al-Qaeda operatives are only used to manipulate public opinion. It is like a real life version of the two-minute hate sequence in the movie 1984. There is no reason for anyone to believe that the reports of these dead Al-Qaeda operatives are real or if the operatives themselves are real people. Like in 1984, the media creates a false reality for the people as a way for the establishment to mentally enslave the individual into accepting a lie.

Here are a couple of reports detailing the supposed CIA killing of Al-Qaeda operative Abu Khabab al-Masri in recent days.

Pakistan intelligence officials yesterday confirmed a key al-Qaeda expert on chemical and biological weapons was killed in an attack by a CIA-operated unpiloted drone, late on Sunday.

Egyptian-born Midhat Mursi al-Sayid Umar, who was also known as Abu Khabab al-Masri, was one of six Arab men who were killed in a remote region along the Afghan border, according to an intelligence official. The US had offered a $5m (€3.19m, £2.5m) reward for his capture. Western diplomats said it would be a boost to morale in the Bush administration, struggling with mounting troop casualties in Afghanistan and a revival of militant attacks in Iraq.

One of al Qaeda’s top chemical and biological weapons experts was killed in an air strike by a CIA pilotless drone in a remote Pakistani border region, senior Pakistani intelligence officials told CBS News Tuesday morning.

Intelligence officials investigating the early Monday missile attack confirmed that Midhat Mursi al-Sayid Umar, also known as Abu Khabab al-Masri was one of six men killed and his remains had been positively identified.

Now let’s look at a report from 2006 talking about al-Masri’s death at the hands of a U.S. missile attack.

ABC News has learned that Pakistani officials now believe that al Qaeda’s master bomb maker and chemical weapons expert was one of the men killed in last week’s U.S. missile attack in eastern Pakistan. Midhat Mursi, 52, also known as Abu Khabab al-Masri, was identified by Pakistani authorities as one of four known major al Qaeda leaders present at an apparent terror summit in the village of Damadola early last Friday morning.

The New York Times reported calmly that the original reports in 2006 of al-Masri’s death were unfounded. No explanation was given as to why these false reports came out indicating that the establishment uses these announcements of dead Al-Qaeda operatives for their own purposes. Additional explanation is certainly warranted, considering that they are saying that the original reports of al-Masri’s death were lies.

Either way, this is more proof that the war on terror is a bunch of garbage. Why would there be on multiple occasions reports of Al-Qaeda operatives being killed twice by the U.S. government? It doesn’t make any sense unless the establishment is intentionally trying to deceive the American people to think that this whole thing is real. If this war was real, the borders would be sealed and Bush’s daughters would be serving in the military ensuring that Al-Qaeda doesn’t come to kill us. Neither of these things has happened, and considering these ridiculous news reports detailing Al-Qaeda operatives dying twice and the history of Al-Qaeda being formed by the U.S. government and in particular the CIA than the only conclusion one can come up with is that this whole thing is a bunch of crap. Not only that, but in a real war on terrorists, some terrorists would be killed and there wouldn’t be a need for people to spread false information about dead Al-Qaeda operatives. The bottom line is that Al-Qaeda is CIA and CIA is Al-Qaeda. The whole thing is a big joke.

Media, Authorities Hype “Blonde Haired Terrorist” Threat

Another attempt by the PTB to distract people from seeing that the government is the biggest terrorist threat.

Following in the footsteps of Fox News, and almost word for word repeating unsubstantiated claims by the head of the CIA, ABC News ran a piece earlier this week alleging that white westerners are being trained in Al Qaeda terror camps in Pakistan with the intention of carrying out attacks in Europe and the USA.

The ABC report appeared on World News With Charles Gibson this past Monday. Gibson stated:

“Intelligence officials say it is their number one concern. Caucasians from a European country who have graduated from an al Qaeda training camp. Such potential terrorists would be dressed in western clothing, drawing little notice as they board a plane bound for the US, coming to launch an attack. There’s no indication such an attack is imminent, but this scenario is of great concern to experts in and out of the government.”

In addition, an article from the London Telegraph today relates that police in Yorkshire have identified a 12 year old blonde haired schoolboy as an Al Qaeda extremist after he sent links to beheading videos posted on the internet to his classmates.

The boy was reported to police by his school, who also indicated that he had an “unnatural interest in guns and weapons”.

Clearly the child is a hardcore terrorist.

Police revealed that they are monitoring hundreds of children in a new anti-terrorism scheme which is designed to “target al-Qaeda inspired youths”.

As we have documented, the blue eyed blonde haired Al-Qaeda line is a familiar talking point that has been pushed on Fox News and within other Neo-Con circles in an attempt to turn the anti-terror apparatus around to target dissidents, protesters and the American people in general.

The origin of the concept was based on a comment by a single MI5 source that was subsequently picked up in a Scotsman article back in January, which claimed that Al-Qaeda have recruited 1,500 white Britons to carry out attacks in the UK.

Since that time the corporate media has increasingly focused on the idea and returned to the story again and again.

This hype culminated in a March announcement by CIA boss Michael Hayden that Al-Qaeda is training new fighters that “look western” and could easily cross U.S. borders.

“They are bringing operatives into that region for training — operatives that wouldn’t attract your attention if they were going through the customs line at Dulles (airport outside Washington) with you when you were coming back from overseas,” Hayden told NBC’s Meet The Press.

“(They) look western (and) would be able to come into this country without attracting the kinds of attention that others might,” he added, with Reuters forced to point out that Hayden offered nothing to substantiate his claim.

In addition, the concept was even debated earlier this month by elitists at the secretive 2008 Bilderberg meeting.

Sources inside the meeting leaked details of elitist talking points which included the need to highlight a new phenomenon of terrorist groups, recruits and sympathizers identified as blonde haired, blue eyed westerners.

“Under the heading of resisting terrorism there were points made about how the terrorist organizations are recruiting people who do not look like terrorists – blonde, blue eyed boys – they’re searching hard for those types to become the new mad bombers,” reported veteran Bilderberg sleuth Jim Tucker.

Latest Al-CIA-duh graphic backfires, wildly popular with regular Americans

WASHINGTON, D.C. – It appears that the neocon’s latest attempt to beat the drums for an Iranian attack has backfired badly. A recent computer graphic showing a post apocalyptic Washington, D.C. has generated a positive response in what is commonly called “flyover country”, the vast area between the east and west coast.

A poll taken Saturday showed that 72% of those surveyed reacted positively to the picture. Comments like “Good, glad to be rid of all those bloodsucking parasites” made by Mable Goyson, age 72, of Frankville, Kansas, were widely heard. Truck driver Mike Sufferingson, who recently lost his address and lives in his truck, said ” Now that IS change I can believe in! No more taxes!!”

None of the neocons were available for comment on the survey results.

“Washington is laid to waste. The Capitol is a blackened, smoking ruin. The White House has been razed. Countless thousands are dead. This is the apocalyptic scene terrorists hope to create if they ever get their hands on a nuclear bomb. The computer-generated image below was posted on an Islamic extremists’ website yesterday….”

This image of Washington after a nuclear holocaust, which a US intelligence group claimed showed the ambition of Islamic extremist terrorists, was actually lifted from a computer game.

The SITE Intelligence Group said that the image, showing a ruined Capitol Building in Washington, was created by extremists as part of discussions about the feasibility of nuclear strikes against the US and Britain.

The images appeared in a video, called Nuclear Jihad: The Ultimate Terror, posted on two password-protected websites, al-Ekhlass and al-Hesbah, believed to be affiliated with al-Qa’eda.

SITE also released translated several chatroom threads from al-Ekhlass and al-Hesbah, discussing the possibility of nuclear attacks on the West.

However, it has transpired that far from being a detailed simulation created by terrorist masterminds, the apocalyptic vision is in fact lifted from the computer game Fallout 3, by US game designers Bethesda Softworks.

The game bills itself as “America’s first choice in post-nuclear simulation”, with players roaming a ruined landscape some time after a nuclear war in 2077.

BUSTED : Murdoch Media Uses Online Game Art For War Propaganda, Claims It Came From Al Qaeda

UPDATE : The Australian newspaper has illustrated a thoroughly discredited story about Al Qaeda and WMDs with a piece of art from an online video game. The Australian newspaper claimed the above was “supplied”. But supplied by who? Al Qaeda? News agencies? Corporate American intelligence agencies? Or someone in The Australian’s own art department?

Previously : According to Rupert Murdoch’s The Australian, the above image turned up on an Al Qaeda website. Or on a website populated by people who claim to be Al Qaeda. Or it was ‘supplied’ to The Australian newspaper by the corporate American intelligence agency that claims to monitor Al Qaeda websites, and then sells what they find for big dollars to the world’s media? It’s hard to keep track.

The Australian newspaper is supposed to Murdoch’s ‘quality broadsheet’ down under, but clearly they are more than happy to pump Al Qaeda propaganda as much as the dozens of trash Murdoch tabloids in the US, the UK and Australia.

But don’t worry about that massive credibility gap. This imagery (we now know comes from a video game – ed) came with a terrible warning of doom…. or as it’s more commonly known, complete and utter bullshit :

Groups that monitor Islamic websites say al-Qaeda will post a new video in the next 24 hours urging jihadists to use biological, chemical and nuclear weapons to attack the West, the FBI said.

The FBI warning came as the US-based monitoring group SITE said the video encouraging terrorists to develop and detonate weapons of mass destruction in the US and Europe was posted on an Islamist militant forum.SITE also released a computer-generated image, showing Washington DC in the aftermath of a nuclear attack, which reportedly appeared on an Islamist forum.

The 39-minute, documentary-style video, titled Nuclear Jihad: The Ultimate Terror, was posted on the al-Ekhlaas forum on May 25, SITE said in a statement.

“The idea of killing lots of people, this idea is available to us, and it must be used under the idea of treating others the same, so I say that terror in their countries must involve human losses and these human losses must be with WMDs,” the video says, according to SITE’s translation.

Whatever Al Qaeda is, the American (and Australian) mainstream media is doing their job of spread the threat of terror for them, and making money at the same time utilising dramatic free content supposedly supplied by terrorists.

It doesn’t matter how absolutely crap and ridiculous the supposed Al Qaeda videos are, the mainstream media gives them all front page and lead evening news story exposure, almost seven years after the United States was last attacked.

How much longer can this Al Qaeda crapfest be kept up? Not much longer. The bitter cynicism from reader-commenters across the American media spectrum in reaction to this ‘documentary’ has been almost unanimous, and many are disgusted and furious. Not at Al Qaeda necessarily, but at the MSM for once again doing the terrorists’ job of trying to spread fear and unease.

Rupert Murdoch, and the rest of the MSM, should give this shit a fucking rest, Or at the very least start mocking the creators of this propaganda for being absolutely crap at what they do.

All the great enemies of the West were mocked relentlessly during the wars of the 20th century. But for this war we are told, by President Bush in particular, that we must listen closely to and believe every word that Osama Bin Laden, or one of his lackey arseholes, have to say.

The scary truth is that the American war machine has as much interest in prolonging this war as Al Qaeda, or whatever passes for Al Qaeda, has. Neither side wants it to end.

We don’t seem to get to have a say in this. No matter who we vote for, the war goes on. And on. And onandonandon.

If you preach hatred, violence and intolerance, you should not expect the mainstream media to do most of your work for you in getting out your vile message.

Memo To Corporate Media: Anyone Can Dress Up As An Arab Terrorist & Fake An Al-Qaeda Tape

America’s press whores gear up for another summer of fearmongering with dubious “Al-Qaeda fan” WMD video

Nearly four years after Benjamin Vanderford hoodwinked the global media by manufacturing a fake Al-Qaeda beheading tape, America’s corporate press whores are once again gearing up to fearmonger about the prospect of mushroom clouds over American cities by instantly ascribing gospel status to a dubious “Al-Qaeda fan” Internet videotape that encourages the use of WMD in a terrorist attack.

“Intelligence and law enforcement sources tell ABC News they are expecting al Qaeda supporters will post a new video on the Internet in the next 24 hours, calling for what one source said is “jihadists to use biological, chemical and nuclear weapons to attack the West,” according to the report.

“There have been several reports that al Qaeda will release a new message calling for the use of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) against civilians,” FBI spokesman Richard Kolko told ABC News in an e-mail.

Since the dubious series of beheading videos, which coincidentally came to a stop when one of our readers managed to expose the ludicrousness of accepting such propaganda at face value by hoodwinking the world media with a fake beheading tape, “Al-Qaeda” has been resigned to spreading its message through Mossad agents like Adam Pearlman and alleged sketchy Bin Laden audio recordings.

It was back in August 2004 that 22-year-old aspiring video game designer Benjamin Vanderford posted a 55 second clip on the Internet filmed at his friend’s house which depicted himself being crudely beheaded while fake blood spurted for visual effect. Vanderford’s buddy dressed up like the infamous Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, barked out a template terrorist screed, and the press bought it hook, line and sinker.

The corporate media lapped up the phony tape and within hours of it being uploaded serious analysts on Fox News were citing the footage as further evidence to prove we were in a war against bloodthirsty terrorists.

Vanderford said he made the tape “to just make a statement on these type of videos and how easily they can be faked.”

Vanderford single-handedly proved that anyone in the world can dress up as an Arab terrorist, fake a beheading scene or a speech, upload it to the Internet, and have the global media obsessing about the deadly threat of Al-Qaeda within hours.

Benjamin Vanderford’s “Abu Musab al-Zarqawi Slaughters an American” hoax was accepted at face value by a feverish corporate media who instantly afforded credence to the fraud.

The latest “Al-Qaeda WMD” sideshow is no different. This could have been made by the tooth fairy for all the corporate media cares. It fills up the headlines, it attracts viewers and it pleases their military-industrial complex sponsors who make a killing out of artificially inflating the scope of the phantom war on terror for increased weapons sales and fighter jets.

The lesson that the Internet is an anonymous free-for-all medium has still not been learned four years later as the media seizes upon the latest offering which provides them with an ample opportunity to fearmonger about biological attacks turning American cities into quarantine camps this summer.

One wonders if the new tape will feature original rhetoric or whether it will just be lifted almost entirely from a satirical spoof website, as was the case with the previous “Al-Qaeda tape”.

You know it’s bad when even IntelCenter, the Pentagon front group that routinely releases fake “Al-Qaeda” propaganda videos of Bin Laden speeches cobbled together from 5-year-old footage, is denouncing the new tape as inconsequential.

“Supporter videos are made by fans or supporters who may not have ever had any contact with a real terrorist,” IntelCenter’s CEO Ben Venzke told ABC News. “These videos almost always are comprised of old video footage that is edited together to make a new video.” (Takes one to know one, Ben!)

“Considering them so would be the equivalent of considering a 10-year-old’s homemade fan video of his favorite sports team to be an official team message,” Venzke said. “IntelCenter is not aware of any new imminent message by al-Qaeda or any other leading jihadist group in audio or video form that will call for the use of WMD against civilians.”

Venzke makes a good point but he might just be upset that the “Al-Qaeda fan” didn’t go through his military-industrial complex front in releasing the tape.

If you’re wondering why the boys at IntelCenter always know when an “Al-Qaeda” video is set to be released two days before it pops up, the answer is simple – they are manufacturing the entire fraud.

Similar to the need to create a PR buzz before the release of a new DVD or a movie, IntelCenter makes sure its customers know ahead of time in order to cash in on a lucrative scheme that services client subscribers from governments and intelligence agencies around the world.

The franchise of hawking terrorist propaganda is no doubt a multi-million dollar cash cow, which is why Venzke seems upset that he’s not got his hand in the pie on this one, but money isn’t the only agenda behind IntelCenter’s operation.

As we have exhaustively documented, Intelcenter is an offshoot of IDEFENSE, which was staffed by a senior military psy-op intelligence officer Jim Melnick, who has worked directly for Donald Rumsfeld. The organization released the “laughing hijackers” tape and claimed it was an Al-Qaeda video, despite the fact that the footage was obtained by a “security agency” at a 2000 Bin Laden speech.

IntelCenter was recently caught adding its logo to a tape at the same time as Al-Qaeda’s so-called media arm As-Sahab added its logo, proving the two organizations were one and the same.

The Pakistani based Al-Qaeda group Jundullah, formerly headed by the alleged mastermind of 9/11, an organization which enjoys the funding, support and protection of the CIA, also produces propaganda tapes and literature for As-Sahab and in turn IntelCenter.

Perhaps the latest Al-Qaeda-WMD fraud denotes that IntelCenter has some good old fashioned competition on its hands in the emerging market of terrorist propaganda tapes, but for the rest of us it’s another painful reminder that the corporate media has abandoned any pretense of investigative journalism in favor of acting as a mere relay circuit for Neo-Con black propaganda.

Unbelieveable! “al-Qaeda” Dismisses Conspiracy Theories, Defends Israel, Attacks Iran and Hizbollah!

Ever since the 9/11 attacks, Sott.net, along with many others commentators (including US government officials), have repeatedly stated that “al-qaeda” is a fabricated enemy. That it is used to justify the Ziocon’s military rampage though the Middle East while simultaneously terrorising the folks back home.

In the past 7 years the world public has repeatedly been treated to bogus missives from “al-Qaeda leaders” that strangely echo the Islamophobic claims of the leaders of the Western world.

Every time a member of the US or Israeli government expounded on the “Muslim terror threat to freedom and democracy everywhere”, soon afterwards “al-Qaeda” obligingly popped up with a new video or statement in which they threatened freedom and democracy.

As the massive holes in the US government’s official story of the 9/11 attacks continue to widen, and sites like Sott.net continue to point to the real culprits in Tel Aviv and Washington DC, disembodied internet voices that US government officials “believe to be that of Osama bin laden”, set the record straight and claim responsibility. In spite of such strenuous efforts to fool the entire world, fewer and fewer people are buying the terror hysteria, and recently the desperation on the part of the Ziocons has begun to show.

On April 22, the CIA/Mossad chose to have Mr. Magoo stand-in and “al-Qaeda number 2″ “al-Zawahiri”, do something which, until now, was almost unthinkable.

Leave Israel alone! Or I’ll attack Iran!

Al-Qaeda’s deputy leader, Ayman al-Zawahiri, has blamed Iran for spreading the theory that Israel was behind the 11 September 2001 attacks.

In an audio tape posted on the internet, Zawahiri insisted al-Qaeda had carried out the attacks on the US.

Allow me to translate this into common parlance for you:

“Don’t believe those crazy conspiracy theorists who point to the massive inconsistencies in the official story! Take it from me, arch-Muslim terror boogeyman al-Zawahiri, it was “al-Qaeda” WE DID IT! It was NOT Israel! You must support your glorious leaders in the White House and Israel in their continued murder and butchery of innocent Muslims of the Middle East! You must support them in their attempts to find a justification for attacking Lebanon and Syria and Iran and murdering millions of Iranian and Lebanese and Syrian civilians! Remember! It was NOT Israel!!”

He accused Iran, and its Hezbollah allies, of trying to discredit Osama Bin Laden’s network.

Correspondents say the comments underline al-Qaeda’s increasing public hostility towards Iran.

In a two-hour audiotape posted on an Islamist website, Osama Bin Laden’s chief deputy responded to questions posted by al-Qaeda sympathisers.

In response to a question about persistent rumours in the Middle East that Israel was involved in the 9/11 attacks, Zawahiri said the rumour had begun on the Hezbollah television station, Al-Manar.

“The purpose of this lie is clear – [to suggest] that there are no heroes among the Sunnis who can hurt America as no-one else did in history, he said.

“Iranian media snapped up this lie and repeated it.”

Sunni fears

Zawahiri went on to criticise Iran for co-operating with the US in its 2001 invasion of Afghanistan, that helped to oust the Taleban.

“Iran’s aim here is also clear – to cover up its involvement with America in invading the homes of Muslims in Afghanistan and Iraq,” he said.

This is the second verbal attack on Iran, a predominantly Shia Muslim country.

Earlier this month, in an audiotape marking the fifth anniversary of the fall of Iraq’s leader Saddam Hussein, the al-Qaeda deputy accused Iran of planning to annexe southern Iraq and the eastern part of the Arabian peninsula.

BBC security correspondent Rob Watson says such messages appear designed to play on Sunni fears throughout the region of growing Iranian influence, and to present al-Qaeda as the best bulwark against Tehran.

Now, you may be wondering why a “worldwide Islamic terror group” is defending Israel against “9/11 conspiracy theories” and threatening another Muslim nation. You may also be thinking that al-Zawahiri’s words closely resemble the Bush government’s demand that we should “never entertain outlandish conspiracy theories about the 9/11 attacks”. You will however remain in your state of bewilderment up until the point that you make the leap of logic to the obvious conclusion: that “al-Qaeda” is actually a fully controlled US/Israeli government asset and is dragged out every so often to provide the “reality” of “Islamic terrorism”.

Is it so hard to consider the idea that, since the 9/11 attacks were the casus belli for an expansion of empire that was planned many years beforehand, that those who are waging the war were most probably behind the 9/11 attacks?

At this late stage in the war-on-terror farce, anything that comes from “al-Qaeda” can safely be taken, almost word for word, as the policy, intentions or desires of the Ziocons. From its original role as an excuse to attack Muslim nations of the Middle East, today “al-Qaeda” is being used as an actual arm of the US/Israeli/British military-industrial complex. With “al-Zawahiri’s” recent verbal attacks on Iran, it is quite possible that the US, British and Israeli military and civilian intelligence agencies will begin to stage large-scale attacks within Iran (or on Iranian assets in the Middle East) and have “al-Zawahiri”, in the form of some disembodied voice on the internet, claim responsibility.

From a manufactured war on Islamic terrorism to an equally manufactured war between Islamic peoples of the Middle East, and all of it hinged upon a truly outrageous fantasy called “al-Qaeda”.

Madrid – A Spanish leader of the al-Qaeda terrorist network financed terrorist cells from prison, making money transfers worth 2.4 million euros (3.8 million dollars), the daily El Pais said Monday.

Syrian-born Imad Eddin Barakat Yarkas alias Abu Dahdah is serving a 12-year prison sentence for belonging to a terrorist organization. He is under constant surveillance by video cameras, and his telephone conversations are taped, according to the daily.

Yarkas and two other Syrian-born Spaniards, one of whom is also in jail, nevertheless opened bank accounts and cashed cheques, moving 2.4 million euros between 2006 and 2007, the report said, quoting information given by the National Court.

The wife of one of Yarkas’ two accomplices helped to carry out the financial transactions. The money was believed to have come from companies owned by the accomplices.

The suspects say the money was used for buying company stocks, but the National Court has indicted them with using a part of it for financing terrorist cells.

Yarkas was initially sentenced to 27 years in 2005 for crimes including involvement in the attacks of September 11, 2001 in the United States. He was acquitted of that charge on appeal, and his sentence was reduced to 12 years.

Surprise! No signs of Al Qaeda™ at U.S.-Mexican border: official

Authorities have seen no signs of al Qaeda trying to insert operatives into the United States from Mexico, but the militant group has considered doing so, a U.S. intelligence official said on Friday.

Comment: Interesting how intelligence officials know even what is in the mind of the “al Qaeda” masterminds – yet they are unable to find them.

The comments by Charles Allen, Homeland Security undersecretary for intelligence and analysis, could undercut one argument by advocates in and out of government for get-tough tactics to fight illegal crossings at the southern U.S. border — that they are needed to fight terrorism.

Comment: As usual, the excuse of terrorism serves the purpose of justifying measures which are completely unrelated.

In contrast, at least one Islamist militant has been caught trying to enter the United States from Canada by land to attempt an attack.

“We know of no trained al Qaeda operatives who have crossed over our southern border,” Allen told reporters.

“We do know that going back to 2004, the southern border is something that al Qaeda’s central leadership has looked at. But we know of no specifics of where al Qaeda has really endeavored to cross our borders in the south,” he said.

The U.S. government is seeking to complete this year a planned 670-mile border fence to fight illegal crossings from Mexico.

Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff has cited the anti-terrorism argument in waiving environmental laws and other legal restrictions to quickly build the fence.

“The flow of illegal traffic through the border region imperils our ability to fight terrorism by stopping the illegal entry of terrorists,” the Homeland Security department said earlier this month in justifying the latest waivers, for 500 miles of potential fencing.

Allen said there have been militant “sympathizers and fund-raisers for Hizbollah” trying to cross from the south, but no trained operatives have been discovered.

SUFFICIENT THREATS

A Homeland Security Department official said those crossings, and the potential for operatives to cross, are sufficient threats to help justify the fence construction’s urgency.

On the other hand, Vancouver-based militant Ahmeed Ressam, with suspected links to al Qaeda, was stopped with explosives in his car at the U.S. border with Canada in December 1999, foiling a suspected plot to bomb Los Angeles.

Comment: That makes it one (failed) case of smuggling explosives across the border in almost a decade.

The United States was working closely with Canadian authorities, Allen said, and he credited them with breaking up in 2006 a plot by militants to carry out an “al Qaeda-inspired” bombing campaign in the Toronto area.

Allen also said al Qaeda is trying to recruit both white and nonwhite people so it can train “western-looking” operatives to help it carry out attacks in Europe and the United States.

Comment: Therefore we are all automatically suspects – for the simple fact that we all look either white or nonwhite.

No such suspects have yet been caught trying to enter the United States, but the effort remains a concern. “This is something to which we must pay a lot of attention,” Allen said.

He said al Qaeda shifted its strategy to seek Western-appearing recruits after the December 2005 death of al Qaeda external operations chief Abu Hamza Rabia. Rabia recruited operatives who had little experience with the West, he said.
